The camera unit and overall design of the Apple iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are likely to be different from previous models. Prominent insider Majin Boo reported this on his page on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
He also shared renders showing that the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will have a vertical camera lens, with an elongated oval shape instead of the square camera frame seen on past iPhone Xs. Additionally, newer phones have round frames instead of flat frames.
Boo said the new phone will combine the design of the iPhone X and iPhone 11, with a few different variations.
But there probably won’t be any major changes in the design of the Pro and Pro Max models. According to Boo, by narrowing the frame, the 16 Pro’s screen diagonal could grow by 0.1 inches to 6.3 inches. Like the 16 Pro Max, the 16 Pro features touch-sensitive camera control buttons. This button is either concave or at the level of the side edge.
Officials also haven’t ruled out the possibility of the 16 Pro being equipped with a periscope camera module like the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This requires rearrangement of internal components, but rarely increases the body size of the device.
The iPhone 16 series of smartphones is expected to be released in fall 2024.
