Updated, 6:50 p.m. Police arrested three people Wednesday on suspicion of stealing 75 iPhones from an Apple Store in Berkeley.
In an update Wednesday night, police said a person entered the Berkeley Apple Store, located at 1823 Fourth St., around 12:20 p.m. and took approximately 75 cell phones.
“Detectives worked with CHP, OPD and the Emeryville Police Department to trace the calls and were able to take three adults into custody in Oakland,” Berkeley police said in a prepared statement. “A cell phone was recovered from the Apple Store in Berkeley. Although we are still in the early stages of the investigation, this officer may be involved in multiple organized retail theft crimes.”
The names of the individuals arrested were not available at the time of publication.

Just after 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, two people entered the Berkeley Apple Store at 1823 Fourth St., stole 40 to 50 iPhones and fled, according to Berkeley police.
Police warned that the initial report was preliminary and some details were subject to change.
Berkeley police said they could not share any other information due to the active investigation.
In January, police announced that there were five burglaries at the Apple Store in Berkeley that month alone. Twice their plans failed, but three others were successful using the device.
