The presentation, titled “Putting Science Behind the Tradition,” will be free and open to the public on Thursday, Feb. 8, at 5 p.m., at 5056 E. K-4 Highway, southeast of the Saline Theatre.
Jason West, CEO of Hyatt Life Sciences and son of Dr. Gene Zaid, said he returned to Jerusalem to visit his father in 2005 and was reintroduced to plants native to the Middle East. That’s what it means. This plant, Arum palestinum, or commonly called Solomon’s Lily, is a lily of the Calla family with deep purple flowers.
“They often use this plant for medicinal purposes,” West said. “They chop it and brew it as a tea. This has been used in that part of the world for as long as anyone can remember.”
Dr. Zaid earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Kansas Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in chemical engineering from Wichita State University. He founded Genzada Pharmaceuticals to analyze plants and break them down into their molecular components. He then began extracting the specific molecules that he thought were responsible for the plant’s functioning.
Additionally, Dr. Zaid began making tea and sharing it with Sterling’s friends and neighbors.
“We started a lot of our research by making tea,” West said. “Soon people all over the town of Sterling with breast or prostate cancer were calling and requesting tea. This started to snowball, and we were receiving about 40 gallons of tea a week. We finally realized that there was a real need to commercialize this product.”
Dr. Zaid founded Hyatt Life Sciences in 2016 after testing the factory and sending the results to the FDA. As a side note, although the product offered by Hyatt Life Sciences is not FDA approved, Dr. Zaid received no notice that the product was defective and began selling it in 2018.
“From a company standpoint, we cannot sell this product as a drug because it has not been clinically tested for cancer or any other disease,” West said. “At these events, we just talk about our research and what we are working on, especially on the pharmaceutical business side.”
Other speakers during the event include Karen Eck, Dee and Vaughn Yunke, Dr. Jeff Gast, and Dan Schweitzer. These speakers will share their testimonies of using supplements during treatment for cancer diagnoses.
The town hall style presentation is being coordinated by Kelsey Loader.
“Three years ago, after my father finished treatment for prostate cancer, my best friend’s stepfather told my mother about Afaya Plus,” Roeder said. “On Thanksgiving Day 2022, my sister was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Her mother remembered the information she received about Afaya Her Plus from Hyatt Her Life Her Science .”
Mr. Loder’s sister, Kendra Reiser, will be attending a town hall-style presentation to share her experience with Afaya Plus. Roeder said her sister’s PET scan in January 2023 found cancer in her liver, lungs and lymph nodes. Two weeks before her sister started chemotherapy, Hyatt traveled to Hutchinson to consult Dr. Gene Zaid of Her Life Sciences.
“Kendra immediately began taking cancer supplements and began chemotherapy as scheduled,” Roeder said. “Her sister’s PET scan in April showed no cancer in her lungs or lymph nodes, and the cancer in her liver had decreased significantly.”
