Purdue welcomes senator and science director for lecture series

The event will be held at 11 a.m. in Fowler Hall in the Stewart Center and is free to the public. However, online registration is required.

“Purdue’s Presidential Lecture Series provides a regular forum for students, faculty and staff to hear from thought leaders from a wide range of fields,” Chiang Kai-shek said in a news release. “We are truly excited to have Senator Young and (National Science Foundation) Director Panchanathan share their insights with the campus community about Purdue’s continued contribution to the advancement of our nation.”

Both Mr. Panchanathan and Mr. Young played key roles in the creation and passage of the White House’s CHIPS (Creating Incentives to Help Semiconductor Manufacturing) and Science Acts. The bill would require the federal government to invest nearly $53 billion in U.S. semiconductor manufacturing, research and development. and labor force.

Mr. Panchanathan was elected to the National Science Foundation Board of Directors in 2020 and has served in several leadership roles on major councils and committees, including co-chairing the National Advisory Committee on Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He is a member of his CHIPS Implementation Steering Council at the White House and the White House Gender Policy Council.
