Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley blamed her rival, former President Donald Trump, this week as she talked about the party’s series of setbacks.
“Republicans have had a really bad day,” Haley told a crowd in Newberry, South Carolina, on Saturday afternoon.
Regarding Trump, she added, “The reality is that it continues to be chaotic.” “His fingerprints were all over it that day when we lost so much.”
House Republicans suffered back-to-back blows Tuesday when a long-awaited vote to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, along with a Republican-proposed Israel funding bill, was defeated with the help of a handful of members.
On the same day, a federal appeals panel ruled that President Trump is not immune from charges of attempting to overturn the 2020 election. The justices rejected an argument by Trump’s lawyers that the president could not be prosecuted unless impeached and convicted by Congress.

“What’s going on?” Haley asked before blaming the former president.
“We can’t go through another four years of turmoil with the country in turmoil and the world on fire. We’re not going to survive this turmoil,” Haley said.
Haley included rumors that Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel would withdraw after the South Carolina primary in her list of losses for the Republican Party, following tensions between Trump and McDaniel.
South Carolinians head to the polls in the Republican primary on February 24th. Haley, the former South Carolina governor, is planning events across her home state this weekend ahead of the start of early voting on Monday.
Haley also spoke Saturday to Newbery, who had a tough day Thursday after the special counsel’s report described the president as a “sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.” and targeted President Joe Biden.
The White House objected to the report, with Biden’s lawyers calling it “highly biased language.” Mr. Biden also angrily rejected the claim, saying at a press conference Thursday night that his “memory is fine.”
“He can fight as long as he wants,” Haley said. Throughout her presidential campaign, Haley has called for mental competency testing of politicians.
