New York, AApril 16: Maryland Governor Wes Moore appoints Indian-American Sanjay Rai as Acting Secretary of the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC). Mr. Lai is Montgomery College’s senior vice president for academic affairs and will begin his new role in May.

Lai, who received his doctorate in mathematics from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, continues to actively contribute to the field of mathematics by writing numerous academic papers and other scholarly publications. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Physics and Mathematics from Allahabad University.
