Smartphones are our lifeline and help us stay connected in many ways.
Voice calls have evolved to include video calls.
Text messages no longer have character limits. You can include emojis, send it fancy, write it by hand, or don’t send it at all.
But the act of deleting things is still permanent…usually.
iPhone software has evolved to include a folder where discarded items slowly disappear, typically over 30 days. Thankfully, one of these folders exists for text messages.
Watch this video to learn how to find deleted text messages on iPhone.
How to recover deleted text messages on iPhone
Have you ever accidentally deleted a text message on your iPhone? No problem. There are several ways to recover.
One way is to[編集]Tap and hold.
When a drop-down menu appears, click[最近削除した項目を表示]Tap.
Another method is to use message filtering.
To turn on message filters:
- Go to settings
- Tap Message
- Scroll down and switch to “Filter Unknown Senders”
Once turned on, tap Filters in the top left corner, then tap Recently Deleted.
This will take you to an inbox containing messages you’ve discarded within the last 30 days.
Here you can restore the messages you find or erase them permanently.
Find the message you’re looking for, select it, and in the bottom right corner[回復]Tap. This will send it back to your main inbox.
If your messages are older than 30 days, they may no longer exist, but there is one more place you can search for them.
If you have another Apple device, such as an iPad or computer, connected to your account, your messages may still be in your inbox on that device.
iPhone message history
All texts, GIFs, emojis, and videos you send are saved on your phone. This can cause problems if you run out of storage and can no longer take photos or download software updates.
It’s good to regularly delete old messages, but if you have message threads that you use all the time, you might have to scroll through a lot of old messages or delete them manually.
To solve this, iPhone has a feature that automatically deletes old messages.
To change how long your phone stores messages in the text tread, follow these steps:
- Go to settings
- Tap Message
- Scroll down to Message History
- Tap “Leave a message”
- Please select your preference
Apple offers 30-day, 1-year, or forever options.
