  • Democrats are hoping to boost Biden’s profile after a week in which the focus shifted to his age.
  • Special Counsel Robert Hur said Biden will not be charged with handling classified documents.
  • But Mr. Xu’s report raised questions about Mr. Biden’s memory and infuriated many within his own party.

In the aftermath of the special counsel’s report into President Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents, President Biden held a press conference to defend himself.

But that only puts Biden in a tougher position.

The president confused the presidents of Mexico and Egypt, the kind of mistakes Biden’s staffers had hoped to avoid in his national address.

But despite the gaffe, many Democrats across the country think the president should make more public appearances to fight back.

Special Counsel Robert Hur declined to file charges against Biden, accusing him of keeping classified documents after Biden left office. But Hoar painted a damning portrait of Biden as a “well-meaning old man with a bad memory.” The report sparked fresh debate about the 81-year-old president’s preparations for a second term.

Phillip Reinez, a former adviser to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, told Politico that the media amplified Biden’s gaffes because he held fewer press conferences during his first term. He said that was also a factor.

“I would flood that area, and I felt the same way about Hillary,” Lynes told the magazine.

“The answer to the president is not to make him come out zero times to make sure nothing happens. It’s to make him come out and say anything,” he continued.

Politico reports that the Biden campaign hopes to put the president in front of voters in his rematch against 77-year-old former President Donald Trump, believing the commander-in-chief will be able to interact with voters on a variety of fronts. He pointed out that there was. format.

“The way we place candidates in 2024 is not going to be the same as the way we placed candidates in 2000 or 2004,” Pat Dennis, president of American Bridge 21st Century, told Politico.

Biden’s press conference Thursday was slammed by some as overly defensive, but some Democrats welcomed the highly visible backlash over concerns about Biden’s memory.

“He has a right to be angry. I think it’s good that he showed his anger to the American people,” a Democratic strategist told Politico. “I would like to see them do more of this, and my guess is that they will, because he’s the president, and if he feels like he has something to say to the American people, he’ll go to the field.” Because he would go out and do it.”
