- While Willis prosecuted Trump, he also scolded Jordan for being “inappropriate” in previous requests for information.
WASHINGTON – Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, has subpoenaed Georgia prosecutor Fani Willis, who is prosecuting Donald Trump, and said her office is seeking federal funds. They requested the submission of documents regarding how they are spending their money.
Mr. Jordan, a staunch ally of President Trump, had previously requested records to determine whether Mr. Willis’ spending was “frivolous.” He said she had ignored two previous letters requesting information voluntarily.
Willis, the Fulton County district attorney, previously criticized Jordan’s request as potentially interfering with the prosecution of the former president.
“Your letter reveals that you lack a basic understanding of the law, the practice of law, the ethical duties of lawyers in general and prosecutors in particular,” Willis wrote to Jordan in September. , arguing that Jordan’s efforts amounted to federal interference and legislative interference with state prosecutors.
Jordan’s latest request raises questions about his alleged misuse of federal grants to pay for computers and travel expenses. The request comes as Willis faces allegations that he engaged in illegal activity by hiring his alleged lover to lead a wide-ranging prosecution.

“The Committee’s oversight of your office’s use of federal grant funds is particularly relevant in light of public whistleblower allegations of misuse of federal funds,” Jordan wrote.

“I am completely disgusted, but sadly, Jordan is weaponizing the power of Congress to try to subvert our country’s rule of law by intervening in ongoing criminal prosecutions for blatantly political purposes. Unfortunately, I am not surprised by the Speaker’s recent efforts.”
