Medvedev and Zverev represent Europe at Laver Cup

Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev will represent Team Europe in this year’s Laver Cup, it was announced on Thursday. The pair will join Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, who is set to make his debut at the next team event.
The three-day event, to be held in Berlin from September 20th to 22nd, will pit Team Europe against Team World. Both teams will be captained by Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe, respectively.
Team Europe has won four of the past six Laver Cups, while McEnroe’s team has won the last two. Medvedev won the trophy in 2021 and will be competing for the second time. Zverev has competed four times and won all four.
“For me, the most exciting thing about the Laver Cup is always the team spirit, because it’s very rare to be able to compete in a team match in tennis,” Medvedev said. “Having Carlos and Sasha on our team will help a lot because they are two of the best players in the world. I’m really excited to get Team Europe back on winning ways.”
Zverev said: “I’m very excited to be returning to the Laver Cup. The atmosphere is always enthusiastic and having the Laver Cup on our home turf in Germany will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, especially for me. ”
