Apparently, some SEAT, Skoda, and Volkswagen cars are having issues or are unable to project the Android Auto screen onto the infotainment unit. The problem appears to be quite widespread in these cars, forcing Samsung UK to create a separate support page about the problem and the steps users can take to minimize them. I did. Apparently, all three automakers are already working on a fix for this issue and plan to release it through a software update. Samsung said:
“Several Users are reporting that they are unable to connect their Galaxy S24 to Volkswagen, Skoda, or SEAT cars using Android Auto. If you are experiencing this issue, try the steps below.
If the problem persists after following these steps, please contact your Volkswagen, ŠKODA or SEAT customer center or service center. These manufacturers have confirmed that they are working on software updates for affected vehicles.”
Troubleshooting tips on Samsung’s website include trying different USB cables, checking your car’s infotainment unit for settings that prevent Android Auto from starting, and Galaxy S24 This includes updating the Android Auto app to the latest version on series devices.
Volkswagen cars are concerned with how IP addresses are used while running Android Auto. Google changed the way it uses IP addresses in hotspots starting with Android 11 (the Galaxy S24 uses Android 14), but that change wasn’t included in Volkswagen, so Android Auto doesn’t work on the company’s cars.
