KYIV (Reuters) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in broadcast remarks on Saturday that he hoped to cooperate with the Swiss president. viola amheld The date for the World Peace Summit, which will be held in Switzerland and will be attended by 80 to 100 countries, is expected to be set within the next few days.

Russia insists that without participation, these meetings are meaningless. Kiev had previously proposed a world peace summit, but said Russia would not be invited.

Zelenskiy said in a television interview that he needed to agree on a date with the Swiss president and then send invitations to world leaders.

“We expect 80 to 100 countries to participate,” he added. “I believe this is at least the number of countries that can force Russia to make a fair peace.”

In an interview recorded during a visit to the Chernihiv region on Friday where he inspected fortification work, Zelenskyy said he did not yet have a specific list of countries. “We will agree on what that will be in the next few days,” he said. “I think it should be a matter of days, not weeks.”

Asked about Turkey’s role, Zelenskiy noted that Turkey also has other interests and strong ties with Russia, and said he appreciated Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan’s support and willingness to mediate.

“Turkey alone as a mediator is not enough for us,” he said. “No doubt they will be among the leaders who can perform mediation tasks but cannot mediate,” he added.

Zelenskiy said the format of the summit would be very complex, keeping in mind that there are many interests at stake in a summit involving so many countries, including historical and contemporary relations with countries such as Russia and Europe. He said it would be.

“We still need to get everyone together and find a format and a way forward and agree on that,” he said.
