Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy called Ukraine “the best country in the world” in an evening address to the nation as he continued to rally the nation amid Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Another week has passed. [of] “Russian efforts to destroy us,” he said.
He accused Russia of the systematic use of “propagandists” to deflect Russia’s unwarranted aggression and of Ukraine’s failure to become a casualty in the war, which is now in its 11th year.
“They are [Russians] You’re just justifying yourself and denying it. They are trying to shift the blame,” he said.
He said the Kremlin denied allegations of war crimes in Ukraine and called any accusations of false flag operations shifting the blame to Kiev “cowardly.”
Four Russians, including Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, are wanted for war crimes by the United Nations’ highest court at the International Court of Justice (ICC) in The Hague.
He, along with Maria Lviva-Belova, is suspected of “illegal deportation of children” as of March 2023. In March, two senior Russian military officials were added to an ICC indictment for ordering attacks on Ukrainian power plants.
They are Vice Admiral Sergei Kobylash and Admiral Viktor Sokolov of the Russian Navy.
Zelenskiy’s speech came a day after Germany announced it would provide the country with a new Patriot air defense system.
“We are also cooperating with Germany on an additional IRIS-T system, which will be a powerful air defense system and a missile in our existing air defense system,” he said.
