But YouTube Music still has some way to go before it becomes a viable competitor to its industry rivals, especially when it comes to podcasts. As that effort continues, the streaming giant is now broadly rolling out a new activity feed featuring the latest content from your favorite artists.
YouTube Music needs to avoid Play Music’s mistakes with podcasts
Google needs to prove that it won’t make the same mistakes with podcasts that it did with Google Play Music.
We first spotted the feature in development last month, and 9to5Google reports that the bell icon is now widely rolling out to YTM users as part of a server-side rollout. In my experience, the bell icon didn’t appear initially, but now appears after I force close the app and reopen it.
This icon is indistinguishable from the icon found in the YouTube app. Tap this on YouTube Music activity The icon shows a feed of new music from artists you’re subscribed to, while the standalone YouTube app shows notifications for channels you follow.
As 9to5Google points out, users will need to subscribe to a few artists to have their data added to their activity feed.Also, the YouTube app displays a bell icon on all tabs, while YouTube Music displays a bell icon.[ホーム]Also notice that the bell icon only appears on tabs.
How does the new activity feed work?

Despite the obvious benefits of this new activity feed, many users (myself included) will be concerned that these artist subscriptions will interfere with recommendations in the main YouTube app. Perhaps Google could consider resolving this issue in a future release of its streaming app.
