The world’s oldest conjoined twins have died at the age of 62. Guinness World Records confirmed the death in a statement Friday.
Lori Chappelle and George Chappelle, 62, died April 7 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, according to an obituary provided online by Leibensperger Funeral Home.
Lori and George were born on September 18, 1961, with partially fused skulls. According to Guinness World Records, the two shared 30% of their brains and vital blood vessels.
On October 18, 2023, the twins became the world’s oldest twins to the throne.

The twins, who started an independent life, left their parents’ house at the age of 24. The twins had completely different lives and interests. George had a career as a country singer and performed numerous times throughout the United States. According to their obituaries, Lori enjoyed spending time at the bowling alley and became a trophy-winning bowler.
According to a Guinness Book of World Records announcement, “The twins lived independently in a two-bedroom apartment in Pennsylvania. They each had their own room, took turns spending nights in each room, and spent as much time on their own as possible. I tried to live a life as simple as possible.”
The twins cared about others and often attended the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon.
Lori and George are survived by their father, six siblings, several nieces and nephews, and numerous other family members and friends.
