This Saturday, the famous World Naked Bicycle Ride (WNBR) will be held as an annual event in Chicago and across the United States.
Organizers say the course will start at 8 p.m. and run until around midnight, covering a distance of approximately 14 miles.
On its website, WNBR describes itself as a “clothing-optional,” human-powered event that celebrates the power of the bicycle and the beauty of humanity, highlighting cyclists’ vulnerabilities and promoting body positivity.
The event is billed as “going all naked.” WNBR officials encourage the wearing of body paint, underwear, and costumes. Although full nudity is illegal in Chicago and participants do so at their own risk, many attendees have been known to “go all naked.”
According to the Chicago World Naked Bike Ride’s Facebook page, the route will likely be similar to the 2023 one, but the official route is expected to be announced Friday night.
Cyclists and skaters should check in between 6pm and 7:45pm on Saturday, and the ride will take place rain or shine, so WNBR officials advise participants to be prepared for all conditions.
As a precaution, officials recommend bringing helmet lights, water, snacks, shoes and clothing.
Riders are also encouraged to stay in groups, cooperate with bike marshals for safety or in case of emergency, and be prepared to help others in the event of an emergency.
The official flyer concludes with messages such as “Leave No Trace,” “Take It Home and Take It Home,” and “Have the Time of Your Life.”
