It’s been nearly two years since Apple launched the third-generation iPhone SE, and rumors have surfaced centered around a more affordable lineup. Details are still scarce about relatively budget-friendly smartphone alternatives, but that doesn’t stop the tech rumors from swirling. Speculation is at a fever pitch, especially after the latest series of leaks hinting at major and unconfirmed model changes, including the next iPhone 16.
according to Insider Majinbu, Apple’s next flagship smartphone, the iPhone 16, is reportedly likely to be integrated with the SE lineup. Apart from budget-friendly pricing, integrating the upcoming SE model into the mainline also means significant design changes. This includes removing Touch ID for a full-screen Face ID display and reducing battery size. Surprisingly, it looks like a major camera downgrade will also be introduced. However, as always, these rumors are unconfirmed and should be taken with a grain of salt.
iPhone SE rumors swirl
Back in September 2023, technology news site MacRumors similarly reported that the 4th generation iPhone SE would undergo a model change. However, it did say that it would not be based on the next iPhone 16, but instead would be derived from the base model of the iPhone 14. It is said that new features such as a USB-C port and an action button were also planned to be introduced. However, like all recent leaks, these rumors were never confirmed. With this in mind, it’s unclear how much truth there was in these statements.
But we might not have to wait that long to find out, as the second anniversary of the third-generation iPhone SE’s release is fast approaching.
