This is how “American Idol” season 22 has been decided on the top 24 singers.
On Monday night’s episode, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie listened as 56 contestants gave it their all during the “Showstoppers” round.
After watching the marathon performances, the judges decided on the remaining “Idol” candidates in a much more personal tone than on Sunday night, when they ruthlessly eliminated more than 80 of the 143 contestants. More than half were eliminated.
Richie, Brian, and Perry quickly put some of the participants out of their misery, letting them know they can move on without hanging around too much. However, the trio argued that some musicians needed a tiebreaker. KB Richens, Alyssa Raghu, Ziggy and Mackenzie Sol are among those who continued to sing throughout their lives.

Advancing Roman Collins to the next round, with his gospel twist on the Beatles’ “Come Together,” seemed to be one of the episode’s biggest corollaries.
“For me, that was the best performance of the night,” Perry told the 24-year-old auto cleaner from Long Beach, California.

KB Richins and Alyssa Raghu sing Lady Gaga’s “Shallow”
After KB took the stage to perform Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man,” and Alyssa put her own spin on Gloria Gaynor’s classic “I Will Survive,” the judges were divided. The two were then called together to the judgment room.
“We argued over you,” Perry said, and the only resolution was pros and cons.
The women decided to train their vocal chords with Lady Gaga’s “Shallow.” Alyssa and KB both gave impressive but imperfect performances, but KB’s version came through with more depth and weight. Alyssa broke down in tears during KB’s performance, and she explained, “I’m just crying because it means so much to me.”

In the end, KB won, and Alyssa took the news like a champ.
“I thought it was a fair match and they thought she had a lot of potential. I totally agree. She deserves it,” Alyssa said.
“I sang with my life on the line. I sang with all my might,” said KB, crying.
