WhatsApp has been up and running this month, testing a number of functional and visual updates to its app design. With March coming to an end, now is the perfect time to make your favorite instant messaging app even better with features we’ve all been craving for years. Here’s how WhatsApp has improved in March 2024

Developers went crazy with the latest beta

WhatsApp has been testing a new navigation bar design for about a year. A beta tester first spotted the change, revealing the app’s intent to follow Google’s Material Design guidelines. However, WhatsApp quickly reversed this change, before spotting this change again last week, June 2023 and he saw the change appear again in September.

Interestingly, last week’s beta test of the new bottom bar design gave a sense of finality, as the design was also spotted on linked Android smartphones, unaffected by previous tests. Now, WhatsApp has officially announced this change with an announcement on his X (formerly Twitter). A new tab bar is fixed at the bottom of the screen and features four tabs: Chat, Updates, Community, and Calls. This is different from the old tab bar, which had a small tab for community and a larger tab for chat, status, and calls. Call them in this order.

WhatsApp says the new bottom bar design is closer to your thumb, making it easier to reach. It’s also easier to access, and you can now swipe sideways to move between tabs. The Play Store app changelog has also been updated and this feature is already rolling out to most devices.

Chat suggestions are being prepared

That being said, the beta community still has some exciting features to test and look forward to. For example, WABetaInfo recently discovered that the app is now working with a newer version. Recommended contacts section of chat tab. After combing through WhatsApp’s latest Play Store beta (version 2.24.7.23), testers discovered a section dedicated to suggesting new contacts with whom you can chat.

Interestingly, this section is at the bottom of the list of active chats, and given how essential WhatsApp is in some markets, few users will venture there. However, it can be beneficial for those setting up a new WhatsApp account. This feature is still in development, so the final implementation may vary, but if you see this feature for a while after saving a new contact in WhatsApp or your device dialer app. , this additional feature will prove useful.
