What will happen when the “Jesus” series is released in theaters?

“The Chosen” did its best to premiere season 4 in theaters.

The streaming hit and first multi-season series about the life of Jesus, played by Jonathan Roomy, will release its entire new season in full theaters over two consecutive weeks. Episodes 1-3 are currently in theaters, and instead episodes 4-6 will be released starting February 15th, and the last two episodes of the season will be released starting February 29th.

Creator, director and co-writer Dallas Jenkins said that after experimenting with past Chosen releases, Season 4 needed a full theatrical release.

“This season will feature important Biblical events such as the death of John the Baptist and the resurrection of Lazarus from the dead,” Jenkins says. “Moments like these are better seen on a big screen in a crowd.”

Jonathan Roomy stars as Jesus "Chosen person."

Importantly, loyal “Chosen” fans have already indicated that they are willing to pay the price of admission to join this series’ early congregation. The series has traditionally been released for free on “The Chosen” app before moving to streaming platforms such as Amazon Prime and Netflix.

According to Ray Nutt, CEO of Fathom Events, which organizes the national screenings, the theatrical screenings of the two Christmas specials and Season 3 episodes have grossed an astonishing $40 million. It is said that it was recorded. The new episodes will be booked in his 2,300 theaters, the largest theater count in Fathom’s history, during his traditionally forgettable February movie month.

“The Chosen has already shown that people want to watch it shoulder to shoulder, crying and laughing together,” Nutt said. “We think this is going to be a big thing.” (“The Chosen” opened in second place in its opening weekend with $7.5 million).

When will “The Chosen” Season 4 be released?

Mr. Jenkins is not avoiding the traditional free release of “Chosen,” and is eyeing a June release date shortly after the theatrical release ends in March. “We don’t want to keep people waiting any longer,” he says.

What will happen in ‘The Chosen’ Season 4?

Solome dancing for Herod

The well-known Biblical story of Salome’s dance before her stepfather King Herod, known as the “Dance of the Seven Veils,” which led to the death of the imprisoned John the Baptist, does not go into much detail. Not yet.

“The Bible only says that Herodias’ daughter Salome danced. Herod was very happy to give away half of his kingdom, but Salome asked for the head of John the Baptist,” Jenkins said. says. “But I don’t think the story would have been respected if it was just a rushed dance show.”

In typical “The Chosen” style, the season premiere explores a plausible scenario for preparing for a dance that is never mentioned in the Bible. In addition to performing Roman dance pieces, rehearsals also revealed Herodias’ plan for revenge against John, a contemporary of Jesus, who publicly denounced her marriage to Herod.

Behind the scenes, Herodias is looking for the perfect dance from Salome, played by one-time contestant Briar Nolet on NBC’s “World of Dance.”

“We had to hire actors who could really dance without the shadows,” Jenkins said, emphasizing the importance of dance in telling the larger story. “We like to see the mechanics of the dance and how difficult it is for Salome to dance correctly and how important it is to Herodias, who is obsessed with the perfect dance. It’s about how high the stakes are. That’s what makes for good television.”

Filmed in Goshen, Utah, The Chosen features a firebreather, snake dancers, and revelers at this extravagant party. The highlight, however, is Salome’s dance before King Herod, choreographed by Daniel Lim in dance styles specific to the region and period.

“This is one of the biggest, most expansive scenes we’ve ever shot,” Jenkins says. “And one of the most beautiful.”

Who will die in ‘The Chosen’ season 4? (Spoiler alert!)

Simon Gee (Alaa Safi), Jesus (Jonathan Roomy), and Simon Peter (Shahar Isaac) in Season 4 "Chosen person."

In the new “The Chosen” season, emotional deaths occur as a result of Salome’s dance, including that of John the Baptist.

But in terms of the power of surprise, it’s hard to top the shocking episode 3 death of fan favorite Llama (Yasmin Al-Bustami). According to Jenkins, this fictional but “plausible” character was always intended to have a tragic ending, after playing a lovable role that showed a relationship and even a chaste romance among the followers of Jesus.

After getting engaged to Jesus’ disciple Thomas in episode 1, the couple seems destined for long-term happiness. However, Rama accidentally tips the sword of Roman magistrate Quintus (Brandon Potter) and loses her head in a tense crowd scene. That’s a blow.

“We always knew this was coming,” Jenkins says. “But it will be very difficult for the fans. Some will be upset and confused as to why they chose this path when they didn’t have to.”

However, Rama’s character has a “long game” ahead of him. Director Jenkins said this tragic death becomes the Biblical “Doubting Thomas,” in which disciple Thomas (Joey Vahedi) demands to see evidence of Jesus’ crucifixion wounds before believing in Jesus’ resurrection. He says the series is helpful in depicting the process.

“Rama was always a positive force and always encouraged Thomas to never doubt and take a leap of faith,” Albustami says. “He’s going to keep working, but she won’t affect him. It will affect him. It’s a painful, but beautiful story.”
