Suspected iPhone 16 back panel [Macotakara/Weibo]
On Friday, leaked component images claimed to prove that Apple plans to use a vertical camera arrangement in the iPhone 16. The next day, another photo leak appears to further the idea.
Photos posted and captured on Weibo Makotakara The publication believes it could be a panel for an “iPhone 16 PVT model.”
The size of the rear camera is similar to the iPhone 15 Pro’s main camera and ultra-wide-angle camera, and it is believed to be designed as if the telephoto camera was omitted.
The leak also points out that the iPhone 16 may incorporate a True Tone flash between the two cameras, and that an additional hole could be used to attach a LiDAR scanner.
This report comes in the wake of known dubious leaker claims regarding the iPhone 16’s vertical position camera system. There were also renders showing a similar camera configuration released in December.
This change provides several benefits for Apple. Notably, it not only brings similar cameras to the iPhone 16 and Pro models, but also allows the iPhone 16 to capture spatial video. This feature requires the cameras to be placed next to each other, so if you hold your iPhone 16 vertically, the cameras will be side by side if you hold it horizontally.
Makotakara This opinion is generally accurate when discussing leaks and rumors about future iPhone models. Including Friday’s rumors, it seems highly likely that Saturday’s leak will occur.
