On the second day of competition in Lac-Beauport, Quebec, Canada, Winter Winecki led the Stifel US Freestyle Ski Team aerialists to her third individual victory of the season.

The weather continued to be unstable on the course that day, with intermittent rain and clouds, forcing many competitors to adjust their usual game plans. However, the weather didn’t seem to affect the U.S. team much, as they performed well in the qualifying rounds, with five women and two men advancing to the finals. This group also included Winter Winecki, who missed yesterday’s final but qualified today with second place. She was trying to get back the yellow bib that marked her as the overall World Cup leader. Yesterday’s winner, Karenna Elliott, had trouble in qualifying and finished 13th, just short of qualifying for the final. Derek Kruger also finished outside of the final in 17th place, followed by Ashton Salwan in 22nd and Ian Schoenwald in 31st.

In the final, Vinecki almost lost her balance on the landing, but her score of 76.05 was good enough to place her in sixth place and advance to the super final. Chris Lillis took a hard fall during the finals and landed on a hill, but made it out unscathed. Just outside of the Super Finals were Megan Smallhouse who finished in 8th place, Tasia Tanner in 10th place and Kayla Dossa in 11th place. It was a close battle in the men’s final, with Conor Curran narrowly missing out on advancing to the super final, finishing in 7th place. Chris Lillis finished 12th.

In the end, Kyla Kuhn and Winter Vinecki represented the United States in the final round of six. Here Binecki did her best to take the top spot, competing in the back lay full as the only woman to attempt a triple in today’s competition. Her efforts paid off as she earned her third individual and fourth overall win of the season and regained her prized yellow leader bib. Kuhn dialed down her difficulty in the Super Final, but was technically perfect in the backley full. Kuhn was sitting in third place on the podium, but she was overtaken by finalist and current World Cup leader Danielle Scott for fourth place.

The team is undergoing a well-deserved rest and training period before heading to Almaty, Kazakhstan, for the final World Cup of the season on March 10th.
