The USA Swimming Foundation, the philanthropic arm of USA Swimming, today announced the first round of funding for the 2024 Learn-to-Swim Grant program. The organization reviewed more than 400 applications through a competitive annual review process and awarded her $780,000 to 162 swim lesson providers across the country. These funds will be distributed across 40 states to provide approximately 14,500 people with the opportunity to learn life-saving water safety skills.

“USA Swimming Foundation is proud to continue providing swim learning opportunities at the local level for both adults and youth,” said Elaine Kalip, executive director of USA Swimming Foundation. “With the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, the excitement surrounding swimming and the Olympics, we expect to see an increase in interest in our sport. , we are excited to continue our partnership with lesson providers across the country.”

Since 2007, USA Swimming Foundation has awarded grants to help fund youth learn-to-swim programs across the country, and recently expanded funding for adult learn-to-swim programs. Programs have received more than $8 million of her funding and directly benefit children and adults who otherwise would not have the opportunity to learn to swim.

Youth swim learning grants will be distributed to 124 providers in 40 states. These programs will receive $650,000 in funding to support youth programs that provide free or low-cost swim lessons and impact an estimated 12,000 children.

In 2021, US Masters Swimming (USMS) will transfer its adult learn-to-swim program fundraising to the USA Swimming Foundation and consolidate all learn-to-swim fundraising activities under the USA Swimming Foundation. This year, her $130,000 in funding will be awarded to 38 adult swim learning providers in 24 states, providing an estimated 2,500 adults with the opportunity to learn to swim.
