SOUTH BEND – Summer is supposed to be a time for college basketball coaches to take a break from the hustle and bustle of practice, recruiting and games to recharge for next season, but next season always arrives a little earlier than expected.
Notre Dame men’s basketball coach Micah Shrewsberry’s summer will naturally include more basketball coaching.

On Friday, Shrewsberry was named an assistant to the coaching staff for the 2024 USA Basketball Men’s U18 Team. Shrewsberry and Texas Tech’s Grant McCasland will serve as assistants to Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd.
Shrewsberry spent a weekend at Notre Dame in Colorado Springs last summer as the on-court coach for the 2023 U19 National Team.

The U.S. U18 team will compete in the 2024 FIBA U18 Men’s America Cup, which is held every two years. The 2022 tournament was held in Recife, Brazil from September 2nd to 11th. Dates and locations for the 2024 tournament have not yet been determined.
The U.S. team won 10 gold medals at the America Cup.
Shrewsbury will be coaching his own team this summer. Notre Dame is planning an overseas tour (held every four years under NCAA guidelines) this summer. Overseas tours through university programs usually take place in early August.
