DELHI TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WXIX) – A Cincinnati printing company is working to assist 12 families displaced by an apartment fire in Derry Township on Sunday.
The fire broke out at Glenhaven Apartments around 2:40 a.m.
“I came out the front and just saw smoke billowing in the air,” witness Hayley Plumley said.
Allie Magiliano, who owns ASAP Custom Prints and Apparel, said she woke up around 2:30 a.m. when a neighbor alerted her to the fire.
“They tried to get a fire extinguisher, but they couldn’t get upstairs,” Mariano said. “She already had too much smoke. She was on the second floor and the fire started on the third floor and she couldn’t get back upstairs.”
Firefighters said no one was injured, but families are still dealing with the aftermath of losing everything in the blaze.
Mariano said she started using Facebook to collect donations for the victims.
“We have a lot of brothers and friends who were able to donate clothing for children of all ages and genders,” Mariano said.
Mariano said the printing shop is also collecting donations. She said her family’s essentials include toiletries, sheets, towels, and children’s supplies.
“Many children need school supplies, backpacks, folders, pens, pencils, etc.,” Mariano said. “You’ll also need school uniforms to get you through next week.”
