The selection of overdrop widgets is where the app really shines. Six widget sizes support dozens of designs, layouts, options, and feature sets. For example, my Overdrop widget displays the weather along with time and date, indicating whether it’s cloudy, sunny, or rainy.
More importantly, tapping on the time on the widget will open the Alarm & Clock app where you can easily set an alarm for bedtime. Tap a date to open your favorite calendar app. As a result, this widget serves multiple purposes both visually and functionally. I used a similar feature set in HD Widgets a few years ago, and I love everything Overdrop has to offer.

Before I started using Overdrop, I often saw the weather forecast on my home screen. This may not be the best looking weather app, but the widgets are great.

Once you’ve decided on the perfect design and layout, you can add themes, customize background images and colors, change text colors, icons, and more. I love the fun and colorful widget selection you get with this app.
Weather app enthusiasts will be happy to hear that it pulls information from multiple sources, including Dark Sky and specific country resources. It offers all the features you’d expect from a weather app, including plenty of options, severe warnings, and forecasts. Today’s weather is beautiful, powerful, yet simple.
Today Weather has a free version, but you can also upgrade for $6.99 to access premium features like an interactive radar.
Another great all-in-one weather forecast and widget app is Geometric Weather. Enjoy tons of features, including up to 15 days of weather forecast, air quality, allergens, 7 widget sizes with countless configurations, and more.
The only downside to Geometric Weather is that the app is no longer available on the Google Play Store. Instead, you’ll need to get it from F-Droid, a third-party app store with a wealth of free and open source apps. This is an app that has a lot of attractive features even though it is offered for free.

One of the highest-rated and oldest apps on this list is 1Weather, and for good reason. You get hourly, daily, weekly, and 10-day weather forecasts, the option to view weather information for up to 12 cities, a space tracker, real-time hyperlocal alerts, and more, to name a few. This has been my go-to app for years, and it’s still one of the most popular options overall.
But where it really shines is with widgets. Choose from eight widget sizes, many of which are resizable, and you can turn them into one of 12 unique configurations. All 12 widgets are highly customizable with font, background color, opacity, and more. If you’re looking for an elegant Android weather widget, try this one.
If you want to get information from the National Weather Service or NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), this unofficial app does a great job. It’s not as pretty, but you get regular weather forecasts, hourly conditions, radar information, and more straight from the source.
More importantly, there are five different widgets in four different sizes, all offering quite a bit of customization. You can save battery life by choosing to only check the weather in the widget every 4 hours or to launch the widget for more timely information. Similar to Overdrop, you can adjust what happens when you click on a specific part of the widget, rather than just opening the widget depending on the weather.
NOAA Weather is free, but there is a $1.99 premium version that removes ads.
Anyone looking for a beautiful, informative, ad-free weather and widget app for Android will love Weawow. One is to use weather-related photos taken by photographers and integrate them into hourly, daily, or weekly weather forecasts or as backgrounds in widgets. It’s pretty pretty, isn’t it?
In addition to the usual weather app information, you’ll love the nearly 15 widget options. And yes, all photographers get credit for each photo. You’ll love this option, except for the photos and the lack of ads.
I wasn’t planning on adding popular apps like Weatherbug or The Weather Channel to this list, but it turns out TWC has some really cool widgets. In addition to the usual weather and radar information, it offers five different widgets that are clean, elegant, and easy to use. It’s not highly customizable, but it looks nice and provides enough information to be useful.
This app has a little bit of everything and then some. For example, some widgets include local radar information, which can save you valuable time when checking the current situation.
The Windy.com weather app is a little pricey at $20 a year (but you can get a lifetime subscription for just $29.99 and enjoy everything it has to offer)
