Two recent Statista polls suggest that Britons believe Britain made a mistake leaving the EU and should rejoin the EU.
One poll, covering the period from January 2020 to December 2023, asked: “Looking back, do you think the UK was right or wrong in voting to leave the EU?” Do you?” he asked.
Those surveyed had three options: “I have the right to leave. It’s wrong to leave. I don’t know.”
In January 2020, the results were close: 47% said Brexit was wrong, while 40% of those surveyed said Britain was right and 13% were unsure.

But from that moment on, the gap began to widen in favor of the wrong vote, reaching its maximum in December 2023, when 54% of people thought leaving was wrong compared to 54% who thought leaving was right. 33% of people thought so.
A second poll, also conducted by Statista, asked: “Overall, which of the following do you think the UK should address regarding its future trading relationship with the EU?”
It listed six options: “Join the European Union.”
“We will participate in the single market, but not in the European Union.”
“Strengthening trade relations with the EU without joining the single market.”
“Please maintain our relationship with the EU as it is.”
“Reducing the relationship between the UK and the EU.”
“Neither.”

Joining the EU received 31% of the votes, making it the preferred option.
30% of those surveyed think we should strengthen our relationship with the EU without joining the single market, and 11% think we should join the single market but not the EU. That’s what I was thinking.
10% thought relations with the EU should remain as they are, while 9% thought relations should be reduced.
10% were indecisive and chose the option “None of these apply to me.”

In both polls, the option that received the most votes was for the UK to rejoin the EU, saying it was wrong for the UK to leave in the first place.
With this in mind, GB News conducted an independent poll asking our member readers what they thought about the UK’s chances of rejoining the EU.
In stark contrast to two Statista polls, 66% of GB News members voted against Britain rejoining the EU, compared to 33% who voted in favor of rejoining the EU.
