The next Pixel feature drop could include the following new features

Google introduces Pixel Feature Drops to its devices every quarter, bringing a slew of Android features and tweaks to Pixel devices.

now, Android central Android expert Mishaal Rahman has taken a deep dive into the Android 14 QPR 2 release and revealed a number of features that will be introduced as part of March’s Pixel Feature Drop.

First, Google appears to be tweaking the behavior of the Bluetooth quick toggle in the quick settings menu (see image to the left). When you tap the Bluetooth quick toggle, a pop-up window will now appear allowing you to switch devices and turn Bluetooth on and off. This window also has a “Pair a new device” option, but clicking this option appears to take you to a full-fledged Bluetooth settings page.

Still, this is an important and useful change compared to current Bluetooth quick toggle implementations. Tapping this toggle now will simply enable or disable the Bluetooth connection.

According to the report, Google is also adjusting the pop-up menu that appears when you tap the Internet quick toggle. Specifically, a “Share Wi-Fi” button has been added to this window. Tapping this button will take you to the traditional “Wi-Fi sharing” page, where you can share your connection via Nearby Share or QR code.

System updates increase speed

Another notable improvement Android central Android 14 QPR 2 should significantly reduce the time it takes to install seamless updates. While this is great news, brands that don’t support seamless updates, such as Samsung, won’t benefit from this change. It’s a shame.

Google is reportedly making changes to screen recording in the name of privacy. Specifically, you can now choose to record a single app instead of recording your entire screen (see image to the left). If you’re worried that other apps (such as chat notifications) will mess up your recordings, this should give you some peace of mind.

Android 14 QPR2 also adds the option to cast a single app via the system cast tool, rather than casting the entire phone. Of course, many apps support casting through in-app settings and won’t display the rest of your phone on the big screen. This tailored approach is still useful if you want to cast apps that don’t natively support casting, but don’t want to expose notifications or other sensitive system details.

Another notable privacy tweak is that tapping the camera or microphone indicators on Android 14 QPR2 now produces different results. Previously, tapping any of these indicators would bring up a full-screen privacy menu where you could revoke camera/microphone permissions for specific apps, block/enable camera/microphone/location access, or check for updates. etc. were possible.

When you tap the camera or microphone indicator, a pop-up window will appear allowing you to close the offending app or manage access to these permissions.

These aren’t the only features coming as part of the March Pixel feature drop. Other notable additions and tweaks include the ability to search for apps via the taskbar, app package names in the app information settings, and more.
