No country in the world has had as much success in Olympic basketball as the United States.
The USA men’s basketball team has won 16 gold medals in the sport.
The team has won in Beijing in 2008, London in 2012, Rio in 2016, and Tokyo in 2020, making it undefeated in four consecutive Olympic Games.
That pattern looks set to continue this summer, thanks to a roster made up of athletes who have already won at least one Olympic gold medal.
Durant has a chance to become the first Olympic men’s basketball player to win four gold medals, winning with Team USA in 2012, 2016 and 2020.
James won in 2008 and again in 2012 with Durant and Davis. Adebayo, Booker, Tatum and Holiday joined the club in 2021 during the pandemic-postponed tournament.
Add Embiid, who will become an American citizen in 2022, and Curry, who is set to make his Olympic debut, and Team USA will be the club to beat in Paris this summer.
