Still using wired headphones with your Android smartphone?

It’s hard to believe, but we’re rapidly approaching a decade since Apple, Samsung, Google, and others decided to ditch the headphone jack and put it out to pasture in favor of true wireless earbuds and other Bluetooth accessories. . It hasn’t always been smooth sailing, and even today’s best wireless headphones can run into bugs and glitches that make a comfortable listening experience impossible (not to mention battery life issues). Of course, this doesn’t mean wired headphones are obsolete, and in fact, we’re not sure if they will be phased out completely.

I recently reviewed this year’s Moto G Power 5G, and while I had a pretty bad time overall with this phone – it’s loaded with adware, after all – there were some bright spots as well. One of them, of course, is the 3.5 mm jack, which these days only comes in the $1,500 Sony Xperia 1 budget smartphone. And, to be honest, I had a pretty deep sense of nostalgia for it. There’s something about cheap wired earbuds that brings me back to the days of listening to iPods and early smartphones in high school and college. I love it.

Best Wireless Earphones of 2024

Your ears deserve the best, so choose the best wireless earbuds

But when it was time to go back to (insert this week’s flagship daily driver here), I had to leave my earphones behind. Generally speaking, I prefer the advantages of wireless audio, especially the freedom of movement and not having something tied to your head, and the nostalgia of wrapping your $10 earbuds around your iPod nano right before class starts. I feel it’s better than that. But that doesn’t necessarily apply to everyone. In fact, based on previous wired headphone polls, I wouldn’t be surprised if many readers still stick with their trusty wired earbuds even after years of using Bluetooth-based sets.

I’ll leave this as a very simple survey. Upvote if you regularly use Pixel Buds or Galaxy Buds on your smartphone or occasionally switch to wired earbuds on Android (I’m also including USB-C earbuds here, they’re just different) (Not popular enough to warrant its own option). Also, consider using wired headphones as an option if you can avoid using a dongle. Because, frankly, I think that’s the way I am, too. Does anyone really like dongles?
