Law firm Conyers has promoted Sophia Greaves to head of insurance and reinsurance for its Bermuda entity.
In this role, Mr. Greaves will lead the insurance and reinsurance business, leveraging his experience and expertise to drive the continued success of this important business area, the company said.
She joined Conyers in 2010 as an associate and became a director in 2016.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Greaves worked as an insurance lawyer in both London and Hong Kong.
“Sophia’s extensive knowledge includes specialization in securitization, mergers and acquisitions, and (insurance and reinsurance) transactions,” a Conyers spokesperson said.
“In particular, she advises Bermuda’s captive and commercial insurance companies on the establishment, licensing and ongoing regulatory requirements. Sophia has established an extensive client base across numerous insurance companies and insurance groups, and has achieved outstanding We have proven our track record.”

She is committed to supporting young Bermuda lawyers, chairs the firm’s Legal Education Awards Committee, and is actively involved in the firm’s recruitment efforts.
As the first female lawyer in her new role, Ms. Greaves is a role model for women in law and the insurance industry, Mr. Conyers added.
