Some Samsung Galaxy S24 owners are having big problems with Android Auto

As it turns out, the Samsung Galaxy S24’s display bug isn’t actually a bug at all, but there’s one more S24 issue to report. Some users are having trouble connecting their new phone to their car via Android Auto.

This is done via SamMobile, and while you won’t find too many complaints on the web, a page on Samsung UK’s official website notes that “some users” have been able to get their Galaxy S24 phones to work with Android Auto. I admit that I am going through a difficult time.

Samsung said cars made by SEAT, Skoda and Volkswagen were involved. The issue appears to be primarily with the software in these vehicles, so affected users will need to wait for an update from the relevant car manufacturer.

The support page states that these manufacturers have “confirmed that they are working on a software update” to resolve connectivity issues, so if this is addressing your issue, Seat, Skoda, Or maybe it’s worth contacting Volkswagen yourself to find out what’s going on.

Potential fixes

There isn’t much information available about what’s behind these issues, but IP addresses and hotspots are mentioned when it comes to Volkswagen cars. This basically concerns the protocols your phone and car use to communicate with each other, as your devices may communicate over your local Wi-Fi network.

Samsung also suggests some fixes that you can try while waiting for the software update to roll out. It may work if you update the software on your car’s mobile phone. Of course, you’ll need to enable Android Auto.

If you’re using a wired connection, Samsung says switching to a different USB cable, specifically a “high-quality cable that can support data transfer,” may help. You’ll also need to make sure you’re using the latest version of Android Auto on your phone.

Android Auto is a very important part of the Android experience for drivers, giving them access to everything from step-by-step navigation to music playback, so we hope this particular issue is resolved as soon as possible.
