WASHINGTON, DC (WKBN) – An unidentified quantity of cooked meat charcuterie products is being recalled, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
According to a statement from the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service, Fratelli Beretta USA, Inc. will not sell certain RTE meat charcuterie products, including coppa, which is a cold cut of pork from Italy, Switzerland, or France, that may be underprocessed. As part of its investigation into the salmonella outbreak in multiple states, FSIS, working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, determined that the recalled products may have been inadequately processed. On January 3, the Mount Olive, N.J., company recalled its Salcuterie products for possible salmonella contamination, and subsequently issued an FSIS Public Health Alert on January 18 related to additional pork products.
FSIS said Salmonella can cause diarrhea, abdominal pain and fever six hours to six days after eating the contaminated product. Consumers are urged not to eat them and to throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
