Shirley Howard, president of the National Negro Business Association and Midland Professional Women’s Club, dies.

Midland City Councilman John Norman paid tribute to Howard in a City of Midland press release on Tuesday.

“It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a beacon of strength, compassion, and resilience in our community. Mrs. Shirley Howard was a formidable leader and activist, and a member of the National Black Business Association and National She is also President of the Business Women’s Club.Midland recently passed away, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.
Mrs. Howard’s life was a testament to her unwavering commitment to the betterment of her community. As a community leader, she advocated for equality, justice, and empowerment, and spent countless hours uplifting those around her. Her leadership was marked by her unyielding determination to create positive change in the face of adversity.
An activist at heart, Mrs. Howard fearlessly spoke out against injustice and discrimination. She understood the power of her voice and used it to amplify the concerns of marginalized communities and strive to build a more inclusive and fair society for all. Her courage in the face of adversity has become a guiding light for those willing to challenge the status quo and fight for a brighter future.
Mrs. Howard was a force for progress, taking the reins of the National Negro Business Association and the Midland Professional Women’s Club. Under her leadership, the organization flourished and provided critical support and resources to African American women in business and the professions.
