Top 20 breakdown
1. Salisbury

As usual, the Tigers are in the mix thanks to a combination of intelligent Canadian players and a deep bench.
4. Lynchburg
The Hornets have a stacked midfield and always solid backline. Will this be the year we see Memorial Day weekend again?
5. Tufts
This may seem like a low ranking for the Jumbos, but they’ll have to replace nearly 400 points from last season with fifth-year Division I players like Jack Boyden and Kurt Bruun.
6. Bowdoin
The Polar Bears still have many talented players in key positions, including Will Byrne.
7. Middlebury
Last year, everyone was asleep while the Panthers prowled and pounced toward the penultimate fringe of the playoffs.
8. York
The Spartans, another team that returns many of its key contributors, hope to avoid the slow start that plagued last season.
9. Amherst
The Mammoths have a few question marks, but their next-man-up approach with the players they lost to injury last season proved many of their doubters wrong.
10. Union
With their strong position fixed, it is no wonder that Union are in the top 10. They’re going to lean into possession every game against Matthew Paolette and they’re going to need to make sure they’re scoring when they get the ball. Great guy to beat Dan Donahue.
11. Gettysburg
The Bullets have plenty of spots to fill, but with a strong backbone backed by a proven backline, they’re still a team to be reckoned with.
12. Dickinson
Dickinson returns a lot of weapons on the offensive side of the ball. His schedule is packed with Centennial opponents, as well as trips to the Mustang Classic against York and Christopher Newport. LSM’s Evan Karetsos is a rising star.
13. Wesleyan
The Cardinals started last season in a similar position, but inconsistent performance meant they were destined to finish outside the top 20. DJ Dixon is one of NESCAC’s top middies, and this could be a big year for Jack Lava.
14. Denison
Luke Fisher returns from a 94 point season and is a force to be reckoned with on offense. Dennison will be an NCAC favorite. The season opener against RIT on February 17th will be a round trip to determine the start of the year.
15. St. Lawrence
The Liberty League is tough, but the Saints still managed to stay in the semifinals of the conference tournament.
16. Washington and Lee
With Hudson Pokorny graduating and Harris Hubbard playing as a graduate student at Rutgers, W&L will have new leaders on both ends of the field. An accelerated schedule that includes York, Denison and Gettysburg will reveal a lot about this Generals team.
17. Hampden-Sydney
Both 50+ producers Ray O’Brien and Michael Leone return to headline the attack. However, goaltender Will Perry left after five years, which raises questions between the pipes.
18. Grove City
The Wolverines defeated Swarthmore 18-17 in the first round of the NCAA playoffs, winning the battle of internet favorites.
19. Swarthmore
After returning to the top 20 to start the season, will the Garnets be good enough to stay in the top 20 for the entire season?
20. Muhlenberg
The Mules had one of the most miraculous seasons in the program’s history. And it started with his third overtime loss to RIT at the start of the season. It’s not a fluke, the Mules have been tried, it’s true.
