This is the second time in three years that Scottie Scheffler has won the Masters.
Scheffler finished with a score of 11 under at Augusta National Golf Club, fending off competition from Ludwig Oberg and Collin Morikawa. The current world No. 1 player becomes the first player to win the Masters twice in three years, since Bubba Watson accomplished the feat in 2012 and 2014. Scheffler was also the No. 1 ranked player in the world at the time of his appointment. His 2022 win ties him with Tiger Woods as the only players since the creation of the Official World Golf Rankings to win multiple major championships while being ranked No. 1 in the world. He is also the fourth youngest player to win multiple green jackets.
The 27-year-old also won the Players Championship last month, and his subsequent victory on Sunday cemented him among the elite. He is one of only five golfers to win the Players and a major in the same calendar year. Scheffler also joins Woods and Jack Nicklaus as the only players to have multiple wins at both The Players and the Masters.
Scheffler ran well ahead of his rivals. Oberg finished second with a score of 7 under, making Scheffler the fifth player in Masters history to win the green jacket multiple times by a margin of three strokes or more.
