Schools and businesses celebrate science

PHOENIX — Technology companies and Chandler schools will celebrate science at the Chandler Innovation Fair this weekend, the city announced.

This annual event features businesses, students, innovators, and artists in the community. This is part of the statewide Arizona Scitech Festival.

This free event offers attendees the opportunity to explore more than 140 science exhibits from local technology companies and Chandler schools. Many of the interactive exhibits show how science impacts everyday life.

“Chandler uses ‘sneaky science’ to entertain the whole family while illustrating how important science is to everyday life,” the city’s website says.

When and where will the 2024 Chandler Innovation Fair be held?

The 2024 Chandler Innovation Fair will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The location is Dr. AJ Chandler Park, 178 E. Commonwealth Ave.

The address is on Commonwealth Avenue between Buffalo and Boston Streets.

There are two free parking lots near the venue. This map of the city shows the locations of free parking.

Things to do at the Science & Innovation Fair

All Chandler K-12 schools are eligible to participate in this year’s Innovation Contest. The six winning teams will receive a $500 prize, which he will donate to the school’s science club or program.

Five vendors will provide food at the 2024 Chandler Innovation Fair:

• KEV-OG’Z hot dog cart.
• Amigos AZ serving agua fresca.
• Jasperz Island Fusion Cuisine offers jerk chicken tacos, jerk fish tacos, garlic noodles, oxtail egg rolls, and more.
• Minburi Thai sells Thai street food, Asian fusion cuisine, and vegan dishes.
• Wiki-licious sells soft Hawaiian donuts rolled in cinnamon sugar and filled with a variety of flavors.

Various performances will be held on the stage on the day.

Intel, Chandler’s largest employer, will set up tents and volunteers will teach students how to build small robots.

This is the first year that ASML, a chip manufacturing equipment manufacturer, is sponsoring the event. A tent will also be set up to showcase efforts in the semiconductor industry.

Sponsor Northrop Grumman will launch a rocket every 30 minutes. The scientist and engineer will exhibit his over 30 interactive activities. Kids can collect stamps every time they complete an activity.

There’s also a treat for sports enthusiasts. The 2024 NCAA Men’s Final Four Fun Jam Truck will be at the Chandler Innovation Fair.

The nearby Downtown Chandler Library will also have an interactive space and will host an open house Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors can explore his 3D printer, digital studio, and laser cutter.
