SAP Business AI innovation and collaboration with partners including Google Cloud, Meta, Microsoft, Mistral AI and NVIDIA Ignite Ingenuity
Orlando — At its annual SAP Sapphire conference, SAP announced generative AI innovations and partnerships that demonstrate how the company is taking business to the next level in the AI era.
By embedding business AI across our enterprise cloud portfolio that powers the world’s most mission-critical processes, and partnering with companies that are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with AI, SAP is unlocking a new wave of insight and ingenuity in global business.
“The Business AI innovations we will unveil at SAP Sapphire 2024 will redefine how business gets done,” said Christian Klein, CEO and member of the executive board of SAP SE. “Today’s AI announcements and partnerships build on our commitment to deliver innovative technology that delivers real-world outcomes, helping our customers unleash the agility and ingenuity they need to succeed in today’s rapidly changing business environment.”
AI for business
By embedding business AI across enterprise solutions, SAP is putting rich insights at the fingertips of users to drive better outcomes and empower what humans do best: creative problem-solving. Examples include AI-generated reports in SAP SuccessFactors solutions that provide HR managers with accountable insights for compensation-related discussions, and predictive capabilities in SAP Sales Cloud solutions that forecast which salespeople and product mixes are most likely to drive sales. Meanwhile, SAP Business Technology Platform is adding large-scale language models from Amazon Web Services, Meta, and Mistral AI to its generative AI hub. This capability in the SAP AI Core infrastructure makes it easier to build generative AI use cases for SAP applications.
SAP’s Generative AI Copilot Joule, which quickly categorizes and contextualizes data from multiple systems to drive automation and improve decision-making, is expanding across the company’s solution portfolio. Joule was launched in SAP SuccessFactors solutions last fall and is now embedded in SAP S/4HANA Cloud solutions, as well as SAP Build and SAP Integration Suite, among others. It will expand further by the end of the year to include SAP Ariba and SAP Analytics Cloud solutions. At Sapphire, SAP also announced plans to integrate with Microsoft Copilot to further broaden Joule’s reach and unlock richer insights. This tight bidirectional integration gives users a unified experience embedded in their work flows, seamlessly accessing information from interactions with SAP and Microsoft 365 business applications.
Reflecting the growing importance of business AI, SAP is strengthening its commitment to the principles of relevant, trustworthy and responsible AI that it pioneered. With Sapphire, SAP is adopting the 10 guiding principles of the UNESCO Recommendation on Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, which aims to ensure that AI technologies are developed and used in ways that respect human rights, promote equity, and contribute to sustainable development.
Partnerships that scale innovation
SAP is partnering with best-in-class technology leaders to push the boundaries of generative AI at the enterprise level. Expanding collaborations with AWS and Microsoft, as well as partnerships with Google Cloud, Meta, Mistral AI, and NVIDIA, will enable SAP to harness the power of AI-enabled technologies to innovate faster and deliver richer real-world outcomes.
Google Cloud
SAP and Google Cloud are expanding their partnership to use business AI to help companies better predict and mitigate supply chain risks to minimize disruptions and maintain optimal inventory levels. The companies will integrate Joule and the SAP Integrated Business Planning for Supply Chain solution with Google Cloud’s Gemini model AI assistant and the data foundation of the Google Cloud Cortex Framework.
Meta
SAP will leverage Meta Llama 3 to generate scripts that render highly customized analytical applications in SAP Analytics Cloud. Meta’s next-generation AI models have an excellent understanding of language nuances and context, making them ideal for translating enterprise business requirements into tangible outcomes.
Mistral AI
SAP is also adding new large-scale language models from Mistral AI, a global company headquartered in Paris that specializes in generative AI, to its Generative AI Hub capabilities in SAP AI Core.
NVIDIA
SAP and NVIDIA Corporation are pursuing a cross-product partnership* to embed cutting-edge technology into enterprise-ready business applications.
- While SAP trains Joule as an AI assistant for RISE with SAP solution implementations, NVIDIA’s cutting-edge AI models will comb SAP consulting assets to provide relevant and accurate answers to implementation-related questions.
- SAP will incorporate Joule into its ABAP Cloud models to generate ABAP code for SAP developers, while NVIDIA’s accelerated infrastructure will run, scale and manage SAP-generated AI models for ABAP code generation.
- When SAP embeds generative AI into its SAP Intelligent Product Recommendation solution, NVIDIA Omniverse Cloud APIs will enable the simulation of complex manufactured products and configurations as industrial digital twins.
Cloud Technology Drives Agility and Sustainability
Business success in the AI era is powered by the cloud. SAP is making the move to the cloud easier than ever with a commitment to helping customers find partners with the expertise they need for complex SAP S/4HANA Cloud transformations. Further cloud innovations in SAP Sapphire include capabilities to help organizations around the world measure, manage, and execute their sustainability strategies. SAP Sustainability Control Tower and SAP Sustainability Footprint Management solutions track carbon footprints at scale and help companies meet regulatory standards.
