Samsung today announced that it is introducing AirPlay support to its line of hotel room TVs, enabling iPhone and iPad users to wirelessly stream videos, music, photos and more from their devices to their in-room TVs.
With this feature, you can scan a unique QR code on the hotel room TV to establish an AirPlay connection and wirelessly stream content from your iPhone or iPad. After the pairing process, your device will also automatically connect to the hotel’s Wi-Fi network. Your device must be updated to iOS 17.3 or iPadOS 17.3 or later.
AirPlay on hotel room TVs works with apps and services like Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade for gaming, and Apple Fitness+ for workouts.
Samsung says the AirPlay feature doesn’t store any personal information, and paired devices are automatically deleted when you check out of the hotel.
Samsung didn’t say which hotel chains will offer AirPlay-enabled TVs. The feature was introduced on LG hotel room TVs at select IHG Hotels & Resorts locations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico earlier this year, with more locations coming soon.
Google has long offered similar Chromecast streaming capabilities, which work with both iPhones and Android devices, to many hotel room TVs.
