OnePlus 12 buyers have reported similar experiences after purchasing the device.
OnePlus will launch in China in late 2023, in international markets in January, and is now in the hands of more buyers around the world. In theory, this device should offer perfect performance with Android Auto, but users who turned to Google’s forums claim that this is not the case at all.
Android Auto connectivity issues are plaguing the OnePlus 12 experience, with users complaining that the app won’t load after connecting to their car. Everything was working fine before the upgrade. One user says he owns a OnePlus 7 Pro which worked fine with Android Auto using the same head unit and cable.
The cause of the Android Auto connectivity issue is unknown, although the culprit appears to be a newer smartphone. Some people have tried replacing the cable but Android Auto still won’t load. They also contacted Volkswagen for support, but the dealership told them that Google’s software must be the culprit, since everything worked fine on other phones.
But I think the problem is with Android 14. The OnePlus 12 ships with Android 14 from the start, and the new operating system has previously been cited as a source of connectivity issues on other phones as well. Google hasn’t released a patch to resolve the Android Auto bug after the Android 14 update, so newer OnePlus smartphones may also be suffering from the same behavior.
Users cannot find a fix and cannot downgrade to Android 13 considering Android 14 comes preloaded with OnePlus 12. Common workarounds like changing cables, clearing cache and data, reinstalling Android Auto, and installing the latest build didn’t help. Android Auto 11.4 is the latest release, but it doesn’t seem to address the reported connectivity issues.
Community specialists have already joined the conversation on Google forums, asking for more information about this glitch, including the Android Auto versions where users are experiencing this behavior. However, there is no need to wait for updates, as it is still a long way before a fixed version is released.
On the other hand, if you are also having issues with Android Auto on OnePlus 12 and have found a way to resolve the error, please enter the line in the box after the jump. The problem is likely to become more widespread as more people get new smartphones, so any ideas can be helpful if Android Auto won’t start in your car.
