Amazon’s Spring Deal Day didn’t change the price of the iPhone Pro, but vanilla iPhone 14 and 15 generations are now up to £150 off.
The iPhone 15 is smaller than most smartphones, but it punches above its weight with the Apple A16 chipset and the company’s long-term software support. The battery isn’t huge, but its 13:20 hour active usage score is better than many flagship models.
The iPhone 15 Plus has a 6.7-inch display, which is just as large as the 15 Pro Max, albeit with a 60Hz LTPS panel. This generation sports a dynamic island for a slightly more modern look, and the 48MP main camera offers in-sensor zoom (a dedicated zoom lens is reserved for pros).
And did I mention that the 15 series has a USB-C port (it’s only v2.0 for data transfer, but it does have DisplayPort)? If you can live without those things, or don’t want to replace all your Lightning cables, the iPhone 14 is still at least £100 cheaper than the 15.
Similarly, the iPhone 14 Plus is at least £100 cheaper than its successor, and up to £140 cheaper for the 256GB unit.
Why not pick out some cases for your new phone? With the iPhone 15 series, Apple has discontinued the official leather case and replaced it with FineWoven cases. However, these do not last as long as leather cases, so we recommend choosing a case made of silicone.
The iPhone 14 generation was Apple’s last model to feature a leather case, but you can of course get a silicone case instead.
The feature difference between Apple Watch Series 8 and Series 9 is even smaller compared to iPhone 14-15. The Apple S9 chip improves battery life and doubles the storage to 64GB. A potentially more significant change is that the new display peaks at 2,000 nits, whereas the Series 9’s display only rises half that height. This makes a big difference on sunny days. Still, the Series 8 is cheaper, and the Series 10 should be released this fall.
Finally, here’s the wildcard – Meta Quest 2 has been reduced to £200. It has less features than the Quest 3, but costs less than half the price. Headsets are popular and widely supported in games, so this is a great way to first dip your toe into VR. I’d like to link the Apple Vision Pro, but let’s just say that adding zero won’t cover the price (Vision Pro isn’t even officially available in the UK).
