Risks for iPhone users: Apple finally explains the dangers of allowing third-party app stores

Apple was forced to allow third-party app stores to iPhone users in Europe, but the company continues to share its frustration with the change. This time, Phil Schiller is the one who is advocating a walled garden around iOS for users. Interestingly, Schiller also talked about a new option for developers, which means permission to use other payment systems for in-app purchases.

Apple executives said in an interview this month that the company is considering making the necessary changes to comply with EU rules that take effect from March 2024, and third-party apps that Apple cannot control in a similar way. Highlighted the risks associated with the store. It can be done in its own App Store. He also pointed out that the company will take all steps to mitigate the obvious risks that iPhone users may face in the near future.

Schiller further elaborated on the risks, saying that third-party app stores are now allowing content that was previously blocked on the platform to run on iPhones. “It is not our decision whether other marketplaces have the same conditions and restrictions,” Schiller was quoted as saying in the report.

The freedom to install apps from any app store on your iPhone may sound liberating to users, but Apple is concerned about apps that are only available outside of the App Store, which is where the company controls. This is causing people to go astray in terms of monitoring. There’s no doubt that Apple is concerned about its European operations, which has forced the company to make significant changes to its policies, including the restrictions imposed on developers when hosting apps on the App Store. It also includes fees.

The latest iOS 17.4 beta shows the future potential of the platform and the company’s two-pronged strategy of a Europe-centric iOS version while other countries continue with business as usual.
