Speaker 1: This is an iPhone 15 Pro Max and I’ve had it for 7 months. I’ve traveled with it, watched TV and movies, taken it to concerts, plugged it in and played. Speaker 1: It’s time to check in for seven months. I’ve spent my life with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and it had some high points, including standby mode, check-in, and 5x zoom photos. Some of the worst things happened, like the software overheating bug that hit the iPhone. [00:00:30] It didn’t affect my phone when I was running iOS 17 last fall, but it has since been resolved. I’ve been writing in a diary for months now. I deleted names and casually swore in messages without fear of being autocorrected, but I have an idea. But first, let me say that the video you’re watching was recorded by John Kim of C Nets on his iPhone 15 Pro Max. So if you see this label on a video, you know it’s coming from an iPhone. If it doesn’t appear, [00:01:00] You know that’s not the case. We’ll talk about what’s on the back of his phone later. Let’s do some basics. now. Here’s what the phone looks like after 7 months of use: Speaker 1: I’m not using a case right now. I know it’s a monster so the titanium side looks nice but there is a small scratch on the left side. His back is glass so it looks good too. Ceramic shield screens don’t look very good. There are some small scratches, especially on the lower left corner. And the oleophobic coating seems to be wearing away in some places. And this is not [00:01:30] Negative. I don’t hate this phone, but it’s nice to know it can hold up to most of the day-to-day experiences of Patrick Holland. Battery condition is normal. And the maximum capacity has been reduced from 100% to 99%. And my cycle count is 112. And remember, this is the 15 Pro Max, so it has a bigger battery than the regular 15 Pro. As for battery life, not much has changed. A single charge will last you a full day to get you through the day. [00:02:00] Half when I need it and half when I’m not using the phone a lot. Speaker 1: When I was at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas or at events like Samsung’s unboxing event in January, I found myself pressing hard on my phone to take photos, record videos, and call C Net. or make a live call. Video streams over 5G. And on those days, I find that using low power mode helps offset the battery drain a little bit. iPhone display [00:02:30] Whether you’re looking at bears, reading a story, laughing while watching a New Yorker cartoon play a game, or just taking a photo, it’s a great feeling. But if you’ve seen my iPhone 15 Pro Max and Samson Galaxy S 24 Ultra camera test videos, you might know where I’m going next. See the S 24 Ultra screen. Well, in some ways it looks good. There will be less reflection. This is one such situation. [00:03:00] Once you realize how little reflections there are on the screen, it becomes impossible to ignore the mess of reflections on the iPhone’s display and most smartphone screens out there. Speaker 1: I hope Apple next adds coding and what Samsung is doing to his iPhone screen. And you know what? Let us know in the comments what features you’d like Apple to add to the next iPhone.I’m also looking forward to the rainwater touch function. [00:03:30] This is included in the One Plus 12 and allows you to use your phone even if the screen is wet. Perhaps the biggest change to the phone other than the camera is iOS 17. And let’s start with Dynamic Island. It’s been 19 months since the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max were introduced, but they still feel like they’re underutilized by apps. Sure, it’s great for his Uber and Cystic Patrol on the Apple app, but I’m sure there’s more you can do. And I don’t know if this is what Apple has.i.e. apple [00:04:00] You can’t force developers to use Dynamic Islands, but it feels like the early days of Dynamic Islands, even though that’s not really the case. Speaker 1: There’s also Stolen Device Protection, which protects your account and personal information if your iPhone is stolen. Turn it on. If you’re not using iOS 17.3 or newer, you can enable it there by going to Settings and tapping Base ID and Passcode. you’re welcome. In my previous iPhone 15 Pro check-in video, I said: [00:04:30] iOS 17 introduced several software bugs, including Safari freezing and becoming unresponsive. I’m glad I haven’t had this issue in recent months. The last thing I want to say about iOS 17 is that while there are a lot of small improvements that are really great, the most distinctive feature that more and more people are adopting is the standby mode that turns your iPhone into a mini-hub. When charging horizontally.I like this because it shows widgets [00:05:00] You can see the weather, time, and photos. Speaker 1: But it’s fun to go to a friend’s house and see him have a stand for his iPhone in his kitchen or home office. And if Apple expands on standby mode further, it will be fun to see what it does next, or what features it adds to iOS 18. By the way, if you want to know more about the iPhone 15, check out the 15 Pro Max. Check out my video review and one month later video with C Net results. [00:05:30] Battery and charging tests for both iPhones. Speaker 1: Now let’s talk about cameras. Cameras are always important on iPhones, and the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are no exception. Both have basically the same camera, but the 15 Pro has a 3x telephoto lens and the 15 Pro Max has a 5x telephoto lens. And I kind of wonder what will happen to the iPhone 15 Pro Ultra with both of the three features [00:06:00] 1x lens and 5x lens. I think it’s something like the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Now the photos from the phone are great, especially with the he 5X lens, on par with the photos from the S 24 Ultra or the Pixel Eight Pro. But let’s talk about video for a second. iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max also have the ability to record ProRes videos and save the files as his SDRHDR and logs. Log files may look a little strange, as they are designed to be graded later. [00:06:30] You can choose the look you want or match it with footage from another camera. Speaker 1: One of the things I like about the 15 Pro’s videos is that it can record directly to an external hard drive thanks to its USBC port, which supports three speeds of USB. To get footage from your iPhone into your computer for editing, simply remove the drive from your phone and connect it to your laptop. No need to wait for uploads or downloads or use airdrops. [00:07:00] For this, I use some of my favorite accessories: the Black Magic Cam app and a Samsung T nine SSD. The Black Magic Cam app is basically a pro camera mode that I’ve been asking Apple for years on his iPhone, and it’s only for video, but it also displays waveforms and zebras so that the bright parts of the image are clipped to white. Indicates where you are. There is a shutter speed control. With ISO, you could choose the Codex, and you could also choose the audio format. Speaker 1: Hey, there’s also a mini slate. But maybe [00:07:30] What I like about this app is that it’s free. John has his Samsung T nine SSD attached to the back of his iPhone. Now, I’ve been using a Samsung T drive for years because of its value and portability. Well, this T 9 drive is also rugged, with Samsung claiming that he can withstand drops from 9.8 feet. We have not tested this claim and have no plans to test this claim with this drive. However, in my experience traveling and using other T-drives, it seems to be very robust, especially for everyday use. [00:08:00] Speaking of accessories, we also want to take a look at this mobile tripod from Peak Design. Made of aluminum and attached to the back of your iPhone, this small slim form factor creates this mini tripod. There’s also a small hex wrench key that magnetically stores in the leg to tighten the ball joint. And I always carry this in my backpack. It is convenient not only for recording videos but also for watching videos. So [00:08:30] In conclusion, the iPhone 15 Promax is very good. I’ve been carrying this every day for the past 7 months and this is the highest approval I can give the phone. If you are thinking of purchasing it, I definitely recommend it. As summer approaches, keep an eye out for trade-in sales and sales. Finally, if you enjoyed this video, please give it a thumbs up and thank you for watching.
