New Delhi: Subedar Tanseer, a distinguished World War II veteran of the Indian Army, whose performance under frightening odds in the crucial Battle of Kohima contributed to a pivotal Allied victory. He passed away at the age of 102 in Mizoram, officials announced. he said on Monday.

“His service has left an indelible mark on the Indian Army, the Assam Regiment and the people of the Northeast as a reminder of the sacrifices made by our soldiers in the quest for peace and freedom,” the Army said.
