USA TODAY released its 2024 Restaurant of the Year list on Tuesday, and Reno’s Louis Basque Corner is among the 47 best spots in the country.
Louis’ is a great place to take out-of-town visitors to sample authentic Old Nevada cuisine. Shared seating allows you to make new friends while munching on platters of beans and fries along with juicy chops, oxtail stew, and shrimp scampi. But Reno has so many different dining options that it seemed a waste to list just one.
The Reno Gazette Journal has rounded up five local restaurants that offer delicious food and great atmosphere at a variety of price points. Specializing in dishes from linguini to lobster, steak to sushi, here are some other Northern Nevada favorites worthy of applause.

Johnny’s Ristorante Italiano
4245 W. Fourth St., Reno
First known as Johnny’s Little Italy, the West Fourth Street spot is named after John Joseph Cassinari, who moved his family to Reno in 1966 and opened the restaurant. Cassinari’s tradition continues through this iconic Italian spot, one of his oldest restaurants in Reno. The menu consists of a variety of Italian dishes, including pasta, pizza, meat, fish, veal and chicken.
Ichiban Japanese Steak House
Inside the El Dorado Resort Casino, 345 N. Virginia St.
Ichiban Japanese Steak House has been a part of Reno’s food scene since 1980 when it opened inside Harrah’s Reno. The restaurant he closed along with Harrah’s Rino in 2020, but opened in a new location at the El Dorado Resort Casino less than a year later. Perfect for special occasions, Ichiban features 140 teppanyaki-style seating, a sushi bar, and a cocktail bar.

The Shore
1 S. Lake St., Reno
The Shore at Renaissance Reno Downtown offers contemporary American and Mediterranean-inspired cuisine with stunning views of the Truckee River. The Shore offers a gourmet menu including braised beef cheeks, grilled rack of lamb lollipops and charred Spanish octopus.
Atlantis Steakhouse
Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, 3800 S. Virginia St., Reno
Atlantis Steakhouse is an inspiring fine-dining restaurant offering great luxury to Reno visitors and locals alike. Signature menu items include American and Japanese wagyu steaks priced at $80 and up, and cowboy bone-in ribeye priced at $144. In addition to the steak menu, other dishes include lobster, lamb chops, and grilled bison tenderloin.
la strada
Inside the Eldorado Resort Casino, 345 N. Virginia St., Reno.
La Strada is home to El Dorado’s owner’s secret mushroom ravioli, which was named to Food Network’s 2019 list of the country’s best pastas. La Strada’s menu includes a variety of pasta, veal and chicken dishes, desserts and a wide selection of wines.
