abusive language To the neighbors in Crown Hill who leave their cats outside all day this time of year to harass, stalk, and hunt down birds that try to build nests. I also don’t like the gifts your cat leaves in my garden.
rave Last weekend I went to the Katherine Blaine K-8 production of “Beauty and the Beast.” The student performers sang their parts beautifully and their overall excellence was a credit to their excellent directors.
abusive language He calls so often that his “name will be withheld.” stop it.
rave The other day I was a southbound I-5 driver in Everett. Traffic was stopped near the South Everett Park and Ride after a mother mallard and her eight ducklings crossed the southbound lanes. Kudos to all the motorists who were patient and allowed a pause in their commutes while a mother duck crossed the highway with her young.
abusive language To the person who yelled horrible things at me as I was trying to merge during the right lane closure on 15th Street in Ballard. I know not everyone knows how to “zip” to merge to keep traffic flowing, but if you’re pissed off and having a bad day, Why are you so mean to others?
rave Visit the bread angel and a local bakery. Together, they donate, collect and distribute bread and other baked goods to local organizations, reducing food waste and bringing joy and delicious bread to their communities. Special kudos to the Angel of Bread brothers who diligently follow the two-page instructions to keep this food rescue operation going while the Angel of Bread enjoys the holidays!
abusive language For drivers who have to back up to park. Why on earth do you insist on parking your car in reverse? Is it because I need to save 5 seconds when I leave later? Or do you just want to do something unexpected to those behind you by slamming on the brakes, suddenly going into reverse, and slowly easing back into your parking slot? Don’t do it. Park like everyone else.
rave Became a bagger at a large grocery store in Ballard. Their warm greetings and highly efficient work always make our day enjoyable.
abusive language They appealed to the city to install stop signs on every block of 14th Street NW between Leary Way and Market Street. Whose brilliant idea was that?
rave To the people who planted the red and white chestnut trees in downtown Bellingham many years ago. Every May, I enjoy this spectacular display of trees on Chestnut Street. I appreciate someone’s ideas and effort!
abuse and praise Shout out to the horrible people who prey on the elderly and try to blackmail and pressure them into paying excessive amounts for unnecessary home repairs. Kudos to Karma.
abuse and praise After their regular bi-weekly recycling pickup, they rant about broken glass left all over the road by defective pickup trucks. Kudos to the crew for doing their job. It’s not them, it’s the trucks they drive.
