One of the best theme parks in Europe is rated higher than Disneyland, even though it doesn’t have roller coasters. Puy du Fou is an amusement park located in the Pays de la Loire region of western France. It is his fourth most visited theme park in France, after his two parks, Disneyland and Asterix.
Although it doesn’t have any rides, it’s still ranked in the top 10 theme parks in Europe, even beating Disneyland. It is visited by 2.5 million tourists every year.
The theme park features 20 historical reenactments, from the Roman Empire to World War I. The show includes gladiator fights in the Colosseum, rampaging Vikings with flame effects, dueling knights in a joust, and more. Although written in French, an audio translation is available to visitors.
There are also four themed villages to explore, over 2,000 on-site animals, and plenty of restaurants.
Puy du Fou is well known for its long lines (especially during low seasons), but if you want to see it all, we recommend spending two days in the park.
Tripadvisor reviews are glowing. One person said the park was “probably my favorite place on earth,” while another urged people to “just go, no questions asked.”
One happy holidaymaker said: “Puy du Fou is unlike any park I’ve ever seen. It’s called an amusement park, but there are no rides, just ‘experiences’ and ‘spectacles.’ I watched the amusement park over and over again in amazement.” “Spectacle” exceeded last time. ”
One said: ‘This day was one of the best outings and great value for money. We went with our 4 children (ages 11, 8, 6 and 2) .We arrived early, brought lots of snacks (we ate them while waiting in line), and our day was packed.
“I went to see the meme show twice, so I managed to get to most of the shows except for one. We recommend that you bring your own.”
Puy du Fou is located on the edge of Les Epes and is an hour’s drive from Nantes Airport, with direct flights from the UK.
If you book online, adult tickets start from £37.76 and children’s tickets start from £26.61. The amusement park has six themed hotels on-site, but there are also vacation rentals and hotels in the area.
