The Vita3K team released an update for the Android version of their PS Vita emulator today: Vita3K 11 for Android brings SD card support, bug fixes, and more generally brings all the latest changes to Vita3K for PC.
Windows, Linux and MacOS versions of the emulator are of course also available and are updated daily through automated builds (download links below)
What is Vita3K?
Vita3K is a PS Vita emulator. The official readme describes it as “an experimental PlayStation Vita emulator for Windows, Linux, macOS and Android.” The Vita3K emulator supports OpenGL and Vulkan (Android requires Vulkan 1.0).
Android builds continue to improve in leaps and bounds with each release, and in general, as the emulator improves, more devices should become compatible.
Vita3K – What’s New in Vita3K Android v12
From the official changelog:
- SD card support: You can now designate any folder as the OS/game data folder (inspired by a PR from nurunuruslime)
- Allowing overlays to be used simultaneously with touchscreens
- Fixed an issue where some devices could have black bars at the top and bottom of the application
- Fixed a bug that caused game installations to be 10 times slower than expected
- Fix accelerometer and gyroscope on Android game consoles
- Fixed some crashes
- Added controller opacity (dima)
This release also imports the following improvements from the PC version:
- Fixed audio regression (bookmist)
- Code cleanup, reflecting, and small optimizations (bookmist, Nishinji, GermanAizek)
- Improved error messages (croden)
- GUI Improvements (Zangetsu)
- Improved depth stencil acquisition and fixed Ratchet & Clank (Macdu)
- Add support for unloading/reloading modules, making FFX playable (Macdu)
- Improved ffmpeg dependency (KhoraLee)
- Improved transfer downscale/copy and fixed graphic issues in Phantasy Star Nova (Macdu)
- Polish localization improvements (mavethee)
