Pro-Trump lawyer Stephanie Lambert announced Thursday after a difficult week in which she was arrested in Washington, D.C., labeled a fugitive and spent a night in jail in connection with 2020 election fraud charges. He turned himself in to Michigan authorities.
DJ Hilson, the special prosecutor who prosecuted Lambert in Michigan, confirmed that Lambert appeared in court Thursday morning in Oakland County Circuit Court.
“The judge ruled that the Michigan bench warrant is now revoked and she was taken into custody for the sole purpose of collecting DNA and fingerprints,” Hilson said.
Lambert’s attorney, Daniel Hartman, also confirmed that she turned herself in as promised, after being released by a judge in her hometown of Washington, D.C., earlier this week. Hartman said Lambert’s fingerprints will not be entered into the system “until further order of the court.” Lambert is fighting prosecutors’ efforts to have her fingerprints taken.
The surrender came days after Lambert was arrested in federal court in Washington, D.C. On Monday, shortly after she took part in a two-hour hearing in Dominion Voting Systems’ defamation lawsuit against her client, former Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne, over false claims about the 2020 election, she filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Marshals Service. detained by officials.
The hearing in the Washington, D.C.-based defamation case concerned the recent leak of internal Dominion emails that Lambert obtained through Byrne’s representatives. But Lambert’s D.C. arrest and Thursday surrender in Michigan were based on warrants issued after he failed to appear at a recent criminal hearing.
She was charged last year in connection with attempted fraud in Michigan’s election system, which Donald Trump’s supporters sought to prove their voter fraud theory after his defeat in the 2020 election. It was one of several incidents in battleground states.
