After a long break from campaigning, Donald Trump heads to Wisconsin and Michigan next week. His trip to the Midwest comes as the latest polls show the race in these key battleground states is heating up.

Biden attacks 8 states in 18 days
Biden departed after the March 7 State of the Union address and held 18 days of campaign events in Georgia, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Nevada, Michigan, North Carolina and New Hampshire.

Trump’s court campaign
Trump’s legal and financial problems may have contributed to his suspension of campaign activities. He was in a Manhattan courtroom on March 25 for a hearing in a criminal case accusing him of business fraud stemming from hush-money payments to adult film actresses. That trial begins April 15th.
In 2016, Mr. Trump won Wisconsin and Michigan, states that had long backed Democrats, on his way to the White House, but Mr. Biden won again in 2020. These states could become decisive in 2024.
Trump’s new campaign moves come as his team has previously minimized investment in field operations in key battleground states. Trump is lagging behind Biden in fundraising, according to campaign finance reports.
“There are more than 100 polls showing President Trump with a landslide lead over Joe Biden, including Joe Biden leading in key battleground states and winning by double digits among independents. It includes recent polling,” Trump campaign spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt told USA Today.
Biden’s fundraiser Thursday in New York City with former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton raised more than $26 million, according to his campaign. President Trump will hold a major fundraiser in Palm Beach next week with Republican mega-donors.
Michigan Republican Party Chairman Pete Hoekstra recently told The Associated Press that the Republican National Committee has done little in the state to prepare for 2024, calling it a “skeletal” operation at this point. He said he was there.
